Meet Sarah from Turquoise Creative
"Every time I sit down to design something new, I always think of how it can be sustainable and have as little impact on our planet as possible ... " - Sarah, Turquoise Creative
When I asked Sarah how she came up with the name Turquoise Creative, she replied "Turquoise is my favourite colour so (it is) as simple as that ". This honesty is also comes across in Sarah's beautiful illustrations; minimalistic, vibrant with a sense of warmth and openness. It is worth noting, all stationery items are printed locally on recycled paper with vegetable ink. I smile every time I look over and see the Love Hearts seeded card on my desk, it reminds me good people are doing good things!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello! I'm Sarah from Turquoise Creative. My illustration work is mainly inspired by Australia's landscapes and chilled lifestyle. I create environmental friendly cards, notebooks and prints and just recently launched new plantable cards that once planted grow into daisies :)
Where are you based?
How did it all begin?
In December 2018, I put some illustrations I had created onto products such as mugs, notebooks and cards for Christmas gifts. My friends and family loved the gifts and that pushed me into developing this more.
What influences your work?
I am inspired by nature, retro vibes such as vintage things, music and art.
What do you love about what you do?
Everything, but mostly making people smile :)
What is the most difficult part of what you do?
Accounting! As a small business, you wear different hats and it's not always easy to go from one role to the other. You probably know what I am talking about!
How long does one of your pieces take to make?
It's hard to say, some designs come very naturally, others take more time to make
What Are Three Interesting Facts About You?
- Originally from France, I moved to Australia (Melbourne at first) 9 years ago.
- Flowers and plants are a big part of my life (and home!)
- Healthy mind in a healthy body means a healthy business: I love to exercise :)
What Are You Most Grateful For?
The chance I have to be able to do what I love the most.
